CARTHAGE, Mo. - Carthage authorities respond to reports of a crash at Cental Avenue and I-49. They discovered a pickup truck had left the roadway to the right, where it had ran into a support column of the I-49 northbound lanes overpass of Central Avenue. Carthage fire spent about 20 minutes extracting the driver of the pickup. Once traffic resumed to normal and the pickup towed, authorities discovered the pickup to have been stolen. JOPLIN, Mo. - The Joplin city council rejects a proposal to ban sales of miniature shooter bottles of alcohol in the city. These bottles are commonly used for selling alcohol in quantities of 100 milliliters or less. Supporters of the proposal say the bottles contribute heavily to the city's litter problem. But opponents argued a ban would be unfair, and would hurt the city's sale tax revenue. The council rejected the ordinance by a vote of six to three.
