Buddhist monk walks route 66 for world peace

JOPLIN, Mo - Route 66 or the Mother road draws travelers from across the globe. And one is currently on a mission of world peace.

Buddhist monk, Sutham Nateetong is walking across country from Santa Monica to the statue of liberty. He passed through Baxter Springs and southeast Kansas Sunday morning and arrived in Joplin in the afternoon. 

The Thailand native said he doesn't tire because of meditation. He said, “Meditation made me to calm in my mind and made my mind is so happy. And so made by body to good health and to good remember and to good everything, yeah.” 

It’s part of the message he shares with those who might join him along his journey. Nateetong added, "I walk for peace and I talk with everybody with peace.  And I send love and kindness from my mind to everybody as send my peaceful into everybody. Yea. " 
It's a  four and a half month journey. After the route 66 walk to New York, he'll stay at temple three months for sitting meditation. Then he'll walk from Thailand to France.
