Each day in the U.S., an average of six teens dies in a motor vehicle crash. That's based on a CDC report from 2017.

To cut down on those numbers, the Alliance of Southwest Missouri is offering a teen defense driving safety course.

Teens picked up on safety tips to avoid distracted driving and learned the importance of abiding by state and local laws.

"I like interacting with the teens...finding out what they know now with the lack of Drivers ED in a lot of the schools at this time. We get a lot of students that are really benefiting from the class and we just enjoy teaching them," expressed Mark Box, a Safe Kids Coordinator.

Participants receive a certificate of completion on the same day of the class.

For some, it will also mean a discount on car insurance.
