FORMER ICC COACH CHARGED WITH IDENTITY THEFT

Former Independence Community College Head Football Coach Jason Brown is facing 10 criminal charges. The charges stem from an investigation into emails Brown allegedly sent to newspapers toward the end of his time at the college. Investigators allege Brown stole the identity of an attorney and sent a series of cease and desist emails in October of 2018 and February of this year. Brown is now facing four counts of identity theft, and four counts of blackmail.

FALLEN OFFICER LAID TO REST

A funeral was held for Michael Langsdorf at the Cathedral Basilica. The Saint Louis police officer was shot and killed while trying to make an arrest last Sunday. Langsdorf leaves behind two children. Flags across Missouri flew at half-staff Monday in Langsdorf’s honor. A police cruiser draped with black bunting also sat outside of his police precinct.

LAW ALLOWS CBD WITH THC FROM OUT-OF-STATE

Some Kansas residents can now officially get CBD products with low THC levels from out-of-state. The new law gives people an affirmative defense against prosecution of certain use of cannabidoil with THC to treat certain medical conditions. It also keeps state agencies and political subdivisions from initiating child removal proceedings based on a parent’s possession or use of cannabidoil treatment.

CDC WARNS AGAINST CRYPTOSPORIDIUM

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is warning pool-goers about a disease commonly referred to as “crypto.” The unpleasant parasite is known for being spread at public swimming pools, and can cause a “profuse, watery diarrhea” for up to 3 weeks. Besides avoiding the pool, if you are sick, health officials says it’s important to wash yourself before and after you get in the pool.
