SENECA, Mo. – The Newton County prosecutor says three men are arrested and charged first degree assault after leaving a Seneca police car riddled with bullets. Those men are Kenneth Nelmus, Tony Helms and Bradley Holmes. Officials say the three opened fire on an officer trying to conduct a traffic stop.

FORT SCOTT LAKE, Kan. – Authorities in Fort Scott say they believe a body recovered in Lake Fort Scott is that of Raymond Harper. He was kayaking on the lake Sunday when he disappeared. After a search that involved the Overland Park police, and Newton County dive teams, authorities yesterday found a body. They’re waiting on autopsy confirmation.

JOPLIN, Mo. – The Joplin Health Department is reports another Covid-19 related death. Officials say it was an 89-year-old woman. That brings the city’s total death count to 22. This latest death comes as the city’s assistant city manager said cases are still on the rise.
