JOPLIN, Mo. – A Joplin man is in custody after being accused of killing his teenage daughter. Authorities say Todd Mayes shot and killed his 17-year-old daughter during a disturbance at their home on Connor Avenue. Officers on Sunday responded to a call about someone being shot and found the 17-year old. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition but passed away Monday morning. Police arrested Mayes at the scene. He’s charged with first degree murder and armed criminal action.

JOPLIN, Mo. – A Jasper Missouri man is dead after a fiery crash in Joplin. Friday just before 5:00pm Joplin police responded to a disturbance call at the library. No one was charged or arrested. But police say one of the people involved, David Pulsipher, drove away, eventually hitting a pole around 20th and Rangeline. The car caught fire and Pulsipher died at the scene. Joplin police say they’re still investigating the crash.

JOPLIN, Mo. – Monday night, there was a crash that happened on I-44 and the Missouri Highway Patrol has released more details on it. The MHP says the crash involved four trucks. It started when the driver of a freightliner rear-ended another truck starting a chain reaction with two more trucks. The drivers were from Brooklyn, New York, Chicago, and Kansas City. Authorities reported moderate injuries, but everyone is expected to survive.

MIAMI, Okla. – A building fire in Miami, Oklahoma created so much smoke it could be seen dozens of miles away. Firefighters responded to calls about the fire a little after 9:30am Monday morning and found the old boater float building engulfed in flames. Ten minutes after they arrived, the front wall collapsed. The building has been vacant for a while, but a friend of the owner says the power was turned on again last week.
