NEOSHO, Mo. – In the midst of a pandemic, the beginning of flu season is about to arrive. Last year, flu season was almost nonexistent, but now health experts warn that the flu has already arrived in the area and it’s important to get a flu shot as early as possible. Larry Bergner with the Newton County Health Department says it’s safe to get vaccinated for both covid-19 and the flu at the same time. JOPLIN, Mo. – The trial for a Joplin man accused of killing a woman and shooting his estranged wife enters its fourth day. The third day of the trial was focused on Stephen Thompson’s physical well-being at the time prosecutors say he murdered Carissa Gerard and critically injured his estranged wife Kristina Thompson. The defense argues Thompson was unable to lift his arm very high due to a severe rotator cuff. SARCOXIE, Mo. – The city of Sarcoxie, Missouri, announces via a Facebook post that it is shutting down public comments on all of its Facebook pages. The mayor, Don Triplett said he was making the announcement on behalf of the Board of Aldermen who approved the decision at its September 7th meeting. In the post mayor Triplett said the decision was made due to social media trolls who quote “spew hate, attack our citizens or vilify the city most of us are proud to call our hometown”. Sarcoxie removes public comments from its Facebook page
