KABUL, Afghanistan – President biden says discussions are under way among military officials about potentially extending the evacuation of Americans and Afghan allies out of Kabul beyond his August 31st deadline. President Biden says since August 14th, 28,000 people have been evacuated in the airlift. But tens of thousands remain stranded in Afghanistan.

LA HARPE, Kan. – Following the news of the Taliban’s takeover in Afganistan, many veterans are struggling to process how the situation played out. CHANUTE, Kan. – An officer involved shooting last Friday takes a fatal turn over the weekend. KBI officials say 28-year-old Brandon Schlichting passed away early Sunday morning at a Kansas City hospital. The incident started Friday, when Chanute police responded to reports of a suspicious person looking in car windows. When an officer arrived, he attempted to make contact with Schlichting who then pulled a weapon from a holster.
