FORT SCOTT, Kan. – Current and former employees at the city of Fort Scott are under investigation for misconduct and misuse of funds. City Attorney Jeff Deane thinks it has to do with the Union Loft Project. The project has been going since 2017 and has been the source of contention and confusion in the community. One big source was whether or not $400,000 in funds committed to the project from the city were grants. The city attorney says they are grants and that the city didn’t misuse any funds.

JOPLIN, Mo. – Missouri’s Covid-19 hospitalizations have been on a steady increase, breaking new records for 12 days in a row reaching 1,163 Saturday. Locally, at Freeman Health, 24 people are hospitalized with six in the acute unit. Freeman officials say its numbers are going down and our areas numbers are marginalized compared to others. Meercy Joplin recorded it’s highest number of hospitalized covid-19 cases last week with a total of 30. That number has now fallen to about 25 as of Monday.

PINE BLUFF, Ark. – A Pine Bluff, Arkansas police officer was killed and a second officer injured in a shooting at a motel yesterday. Three officers were conducting an investigation at the motel when a suspect opened fire on police. Two of the officers suffered gunshot wounds and were taken to a nearby hospital. 35-year-old Kevin Collins, a five year veteran of the department, died from his injuries. The other officer, Lieutenant Ralph Isaac was last reported in stable condition.
