New faces lead Webb City into 2022 season

The Cardinals lose 8 of 9 starters from last year's team.

WEBB CITY, Mo. – (WATCH) New faces lead Webb City into 2022 season, after the team lost 8 of 9 starters to graduation.

The lone starter returning for the Cardinals is sophomore pitcher Laney Taylor.

“We are really young. We’ve had just two weeks of practice together, but I think there’s a lot of potential in a lot of areas,” says head coach Shauna Friend, “Defensively, we’re looking pretty solid and we have a lot of depth. That’s a good sign.”

“We’re going to have tough opponents,” says infielder Jensyn Pickett, “We’re coming in knowing it’s going to be tough for us, but we know we can rise to it and we know we’re there for each other – and we always have each others backs, one-hundred percent.”

Webb City opens the season next Monday, on the road against Nevada.
