Neosho officials discuss sales tax proposal, cemetery hours

Neosho city council

NEOSHO, Mo. – Officials with the City of Neosho passed a measure to include a sales tax question on the April ballot.

If passed, a one-half percent sales tax on all Neosho sales and services would go towards funding equipment upgrades for the fire and police departments.

Officials hope the tax will raise $1.3 million annually.

Neosho city officials also looked at plans for the Oddfellows Cemetery.

The cemetery fell into a condition of receivership in November 2019. Under Missouri law, the City took ownership.

On Jan. 21, 2020, officials decided the hours for the cemetery would be 5:00 a.m. to midnight.
