NEOSHO, Mo. – Neosho police warn residents of a rise in various pre-paid gift card scams throughout the city.

Neosho Police Officers say the Department has seen an increase in scam calls and harassment of citizens.

Deputies say the most commonly reported scam they receive involves a caller claiming to be from a government agency and alleging that the victim owes money.

According to the media release, the scammers usually ask for payments of pre-paid cards or other currencies like:

  • Amazon Gift Cards
  • Google Play Cards
  • Apple Cards
  • Bitcoin

The Neosho Police Department would like to remind residents that no government agency will ever ask for any of these pre-paid cards or cryptocurrency for payment.
