Neosho County issues order on public gatherings, businesses

NEOSHO COUNTY, Kan. – The Neosho County Health Department releases an order regarding public gatherings, essential government functions and business activity.

Officials posted the order to social media, also making a clarification that “this IS NOT a stay at home order.”

The order takes effect at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2020.

Public Gatherings: All large public gatherings of people in the county are prohibited unless otherwise allowed by the Board of Public Health or by the local health officer. Large public gatherings are those with more than ten people, both indoor and outdoor, except for essential business.

Essential Businesses are allowed to remain open with recommendations stated. those include grocery stores, convenient stores/gas stations, funeral homes, healthcare facilities and providers/veterinary clinics, utility providers, banks & pharmacies and child care facilities.

Non-Essential Businesses can remain open but have been given restrictions, such as not allowing public access to the inside of the businesses. Those businesses are listed as bars/restaurants, veteran’s service organizations, manufacturing, automotive repair shops and other retails sales.

Barber/beauty shops, fitness centers/gyms and libraries have been ordered to temporarily close.
