Neosho celebrates grand opening of new bike park/trail system

The grand opening was a success, with dozens of people in attendance for the ribbon cutting

NEOSHO, Mo. – Neosho residents and visitors celebrated the grand opening of the new High Grounds bike park and trail system

The bike park includes 5 miles of mountain bike trails behind the baseball field in Morse Park, a skills loop for intermediate riders and bicycle playground for kids.

The project has been a work in progress since December of 2019, but if you ask Jeff Chase, the creator of Bike Neosho, the trails has been something he has been wanting to happen since 2016.

“It is a dream come true for Neosho” said Chase.

Bike Neosho, Progressive Bike Ramps Joplin, Rogue Trails and the Neosho Parks and Recreation were all apart of the creation of the new trail system.

The grand opening was a success, with dozens of people in attendance for the ribbon cutting. It also included a variety of vendors and performances by the stunt dudes.

The bike trails project cost $265,000 in funding to complete. Phase two, which includes adding more miles to the trails is expected to begin early next year.
