The NEO Golden Norsemen are just four days away from their home opener against Arkansas Baptist. NEO comes into the year ranked No. 8 in the nation according to the NJCAA preseason poll.

The Golden Norsemen have a new head guy in charge. Zach Allen took over the program in the off-season. Coach Allen is not new to the program. He has been with the NEO staff for nine seasons before transitioning into the head coaching job.

Coach Allen says there is no nervousness stepping into the new role of a solid program.

“I’m anxious. It’s been left in pretty good hands. Arguably left in as good as hands as its been from any of the coaches turnovers over the last ten seasons or so. But I feel real blessed in that regard. A lot of good players, a lot of great assistant coaches — I’m just ready to see another opponent across from the line of scrimmage,” adds Allen.

The Golden Norsemen open the season with a three game homestand, at Red Robertson Field, starting with Arkansas Baptist on August 30 at 6 p.m.
