NEWS RELEASE FROM NORTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA A&M COLLEGE

Miami, Okla. – Wednesday, May 28, 2014 – The 93rd commencement ceremony at Northeastern Oklahoma A and M College (NEO) was record-setting. By summer’s end, NEO officials said they expect the 2013-14 graduating class to be the largest in school history with 550 graduates. NEO students come from 55 counties in Oklahoma, 32 states from around the nation and 12 countries from around the world.

The class of 2014 was addressed by the Chairman of the Board of Regents, Tucker Link. Link’s message of encouragement included quotes from Abraham Lincoln, Yogi Berra, John Wooden and Paul Anka. NEO’s graduating classes have steadily increased since 2007 and have grown a remarkable 46 percent over that same period of time.

“The record number of NEO graduates is a testament to strong student performance, outstanding faculty work and a support system of staff and administrators who have made student success a top priority,” said Dr. Jeff Hale, NEO president. “We are pleased that our record growth supports the Complete College America goals established by Governor Fallin and Chancellor Johnson.”

NEO’s Outstanding Graduates from the School of Agriculture and Natural Sciences include: Billy D. Bryant: Hometown: South Coffeyville, Okla.; Major: Natural Resources and Ecology Management; Chance C. Currant from Baxter Springs, Kan.; majoring in Natural Resources and Ecology Management; Samantha Degenero-Scheib from Miami, Okla., majoring in Pre-Engineering; Blake M. Murray from Cushing, Okla., majoring in Pre-Engineering; Ethan C. Propp from Adair, Okla., majoring in Agriculture, Animal Science; Kelsey Williams from Commerce, Okla., majoring in Natural Sciences.

The Outstanding Graduate from the School of Human Environmental Sciences was: Michael W. Fusselman from Melissa, Texas; major: Business Administration.

The Outstanding Graduates from the School of Liberal Arts include: Cypress Cook from Wyandotte, Okla., majoring in English, and Ashley T. Gilion from Neosho, Mo., majoring in Early Childhood Education.
