NEO Foundation auction earns a record $30,000 for scholarships

Miami, Oklahoma – Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013 – Last Thursday, Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College’s (NEO) Development Foundation hosted its annual “Fall Fundraising Festival,” the largest annual fundraiser of the year put on by the Foundation. The evening raised a record $30,000.

The Fall Festival has been 12 years running and is an event that NEO alumni and members of the community look forward to every year. NEO’s own Brian Mooney was this year’s auctioneer.

All proceeds from the auction go toward scholarships to benefit NEO students. Since the inception of the festival, the event has raised more than $180,000 and assisted more than 750 students.

This year’s entertainment was provided by NEO’s Bahamian drum line, “Bah-Rhythm.” The students are under the direction of NEO Band Director Adam Compton.

Foundation Executive Director, Jennifer Hessee, said “This year’s auction also hit an all-time high in attendance, with 240 people present.”

“Thanks to the generosity of many loyal supporters of NEO A&M, the money raised from this event will help fund scholarships for several deserving students,” Hessee added. “For many students, without a foundation scholarship they would not be able to realize the dream of a college education.”

NEO students from various campus organizations provided great service and additional entertainment throughout the night. Two students, Atira Harrison and Chloe Patterson, were each awarded a $300 book scholarship for generating the most tips at their tables.

“A special thank you to the more than 100 area businesses who donated items to the live and silent auctions,” Hessee said. “Our auction items were a huge hit with our guests.”
