Nancy Carol Webb of Baxter Springs, Kansas passed away peacefully in her home on January 6, 2019. Nancy was born to William D and Jewel Higginbotham Jr. on December 26, 1947, in Joplin, Missouri. She graduated from Neosho High School in 1965 and earned her diploma in nursing from Mercy School of Nursing in Fort Scott, KS on March 17, 1968. She spent her career in healthcare serving others as a Registered Nurse at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Freeman Hospital in Joplin, and later as Director of Nursing at Baxter Memorial Hospital in Baxter Springs, and Quaker Hill Manor Nursing Home in Lowell.
On September 26, 1971, she married Dennis Webb in Joplin, MO. Nancy enjoyed listening to Elvis, crocheting, and cheering on the Royals (especially when they were playing the Cardinals). She was a source of practical wisdom and wit to those she loved and had a generous heart for all she helped. She exemplified perseverance and is remembered for her strength of conviction and dedication to her family.
Nancy is survived by her husband Dennis, her son William Van and his wife Annette of Tulsa, OK, her daughter Suzanne and her husband JR DeLaney of McKinney, TX, her granddaughters Veronica, Katryna, Ali, and Mia, her sister Sharon and her husband Mike of Joplin, MO, her sister Pam and her husband Dale of Tulsa, OK, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the First Baptist Church, Baxter Springs, KS. Pastor Jeff Street will officiate. Burial will follow in the Baxter Springs Cemetery. Family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00-7:00 p.m., at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel. Pallbearers for the service are Donnie Wren, Chuck Wren, John Hunt, John Mallatt, and jimmy Morton. Honorary pallbearers are Leon Aupperle, and Ron Rhoads.
