Murder charges filed against 3 people in Nevada shooting

A special assigned prosecutor has filed murder charges in the Vernon County Associate Court against three people in connection to a fatal shooting in Nevada, Missouri.

Jason Hallam, 38, of Nevada, Donald Million, 40, and Amanda Million, 39, both of Bronaugh, are charged with the following:

Murder 2nd Degree – Class A Felony
Assault 2nd Degree – Class D Felony
Burglary 2nd Degree – Class D Felony
Unlawful Use of Weapon – Class E Felony

Prosecutors filed charges against Lance Berry, 20, of Nevada in July. He was arrested at the scene and charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Vernon County Prosecutor called in Ty Gaither, a special prosecutor from Cedar County for Berry’s case. Gaither tells KOAM his office will not charge Berry in connection to Terah’s death because they believe he was protecting his home.

On July 21st, 2019, officers with the Nevada Police Department and the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office went to a home in the 200 block of S. Spring Street for a reported disturbance in progress.

Authorities got there and found a Jason Hallam and Terah Hallam inside the home with gunshot wounds. EMS took them to a local hospital.

Terah died at the hospital. Jason was transferred by air to a Joplin hospital.

Authorities have not released details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting. KOAM has requested court documents for more information.

The Nevada Police Department says on September 20th, a special assigned prosecutor filed the new criminal charges against the three Vernon County residents.

The bond for Jason Hallam, Donald and Amanda Million was set at $250,000 cash or surety each. Authorities have booked all three subjects have been booked into the Vernon County jail and have posted bond.

The court increased the bond for Berry in August to $500,000.
