Multi-county police chase ends in Labette County

The Labette County Sheriff’s Office arrests a man after a multi county chase in Southwest Kansas.

On December 30th at 3:57 p.m. the Kansas Highway Patrol started a car chase with a 2019 Silver Ford hatchback in Montgomery Co. east of Coffeyville Ks. on Hwy 169. Shortly after, authorities continued the chase into Labette Co. on 160 Hwy.

During the chase the driver was able to maneuver around two sets of spike strips, one set west of Altamont and one set east of Altamont, according to the Labette County Sheriff’s office.

The chase ended around mile post 14 just west of Oswego, on 59 hwy when the driver drove over at set of spike strips. Once the vehicle was stopped, the occupants were removed from the vehicle, according to authorities.

The driver and passenger were 21 years old.  The driver was arrested for Attempting to elude, Possession of a controlled substance, and criminal possession of a firearm. The passenger was later released.

During the chase the following law enforcement agencies were involved: Kansas Highway Patrol, Montgomery Co. Sheriff’s Office, Altamont Police Dept., Oswego Police Dept. and the Labette Co. Sheriff’s Office.
