MSSU’s Blackney named MIAA Coach of the Year; Tofpi 1st team All-MIAA
Hallie Blackney is the MIIAA Coach of the Year.
JOPLIN, Mo. – Missouri Southern head softball coach Hallie Blackney has been named the MIAA Coach of the Year.
Blackney, who is in her third season as the Lions’ head coach, led MSSU to a 28-13-1 record in the regular season and the #3 seed in the MIAA conference tournament this weekend – after being picked to finish 11th in the MIAA preseason poll.
The Lions’ 28 wins are the most for the team since 2002, and their 19 conference wins this season are the most in program history.
Blackney isn’t the only Lion earning MIAA recognition today. Shortstop Josie Tofpi has been named 1st team All-MIAA, after leading the team with a .410 batting average (#4 in MIAA) and hitting 13 doubles (#4 in MIAA), 3 home runs, 2 triples and driving in 32 runs.
Eight total Missouri Southern players earned All-MIAA recognition, while three from Pittsburg State received All-Conference honors.
