JOPLIN, Mo. – Missouri Southern has announced Sam McMahon will be the school’s next men’s basketball head coach.

McMahon served on the Missouri Southern coaching staff for six seasons (2014-2020) under former Lions’ head coach Jeff Boschee. He spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Division I Southeast Missouri State.

In the six seasons he was on the coaching staff at Missouri Southern, the Lions averaged 20 wins per season, going 124-60 overall. Southern finished in the top four in the MIAA conference standings every season McMahon was on the staff and made the NCAA Division II Sweet Sixteen in 2019.

McMahon replaces Jeff Boschee, who accepted the head coaching position at Pittsburg State University in March.
