More than 500 Christmas dinners were served at the Neosho Civic Center this afternoon.

With turkey, ham, homemade salads and desserts, all food items were donated and free to those who attended.

Nearly 90 volunteers helped out with serving food, performing live music, and handing out gift bags.

The community dinner has been served in Neosho for the past 15 years.

For many who attend, it is a Christmas tradition.

“When they come here for their lunch, it’s like being at home,” said Roberta Foster, coordinator. “Hopefully, we meet those needs and bring some great memories of what they used to have when they were surrounded by family or friends in their own home.”

“They treat you so nice and the food is just great,” said Helen Harper, attendee. “They’ve just got a bunch of wonderful volunteers that do this, and it makes me happy.”

Organizers also sent out 75 meals to home-bound residents in the community.
