Monday Evening December 9th – Sun returns for Tuesday
We'll have a cool day to work through, though
JOPLIN, Mo. — Good Monday evening, everyone. Today was the day that Mother Nature decided to bring another taste of winter back into the area. Before the cold front swept through today, we actually had areas of fog and mist develop this morning underneath the cloud cover from last night. As for temperatures, we had temperatures holding around 50° through a good portion of the morning and just before the noon hour. Once the northwest wind kicked into gear this afternoon, that sent temperatures tumbling. Even though the clouds stick with us tonight, we’ll keep the radar below nice and quiet…
Even though our cold front will continue to move off to the southeast, the cloud cover will still be around to start your Tuesday morning out…
As we work through the rest of the morning and into the afternoon, the clouds will be working on out of here…
The cooler air will be sticking around as we go through your Tuesday. After we start the morning out on a cold note with lows in the middle 20s, we’ll have afternoon highs climb back into the lower to middle 40s…
We’ll stay quiet with mostly sunny skies on Wednesday as highs climbing back to 50°. After mostly cloudy skies return on Thursday, a weak wave on Friday could give us a few showers to start the upcoming weekend out…
That wave will pass and give us a break in between systems for Saturday. A somewhat stronger wave will try to influence our weather by next Sunday and Monday. Depending on how this tracks and how temperatures behave, this could be a rain/snow mix we’ll need to keep an eye on…
We’ll continue to keep an eye on these upcoming waves since we are starting to return to the active part of the pattern. Don’t forget that Doug has his long range forecast down below covering things into late next January. Have a good night and a great Tuesday!
