Missouri couple indicted after infant dies from meth

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – A grand jury has indicted a central Missouri couple on second-degree murder and other charges after authorities determined their 2-month old child died from methamphetamine. Jason Williams and Kayla Brewer also face several other charges after the infant died Sept. 30 at a home in Elston. Cole County Sheriff John Wheeler said in a news release a Cole County grand jury indicted the couple on Wednesday. Williams faces 11 charges and Brewer faces seven charges. They are being held in the Cole County jail without bond. The couple initially were charged with drug and child endangerment charges but Wheeler said further investigation determined the child died from methamphetamine.
