Car overturns in two vehicle crash in SW Joplin; Joplin Fire peel back top of car to rescue occupants

Joplin Police Ofc Darrell Klink tells us three people were transported to area hospitals suffering non-life threatening injuries.

JOPLIN, Mo. — Just after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday reports of a crash at 32nd and Schifferdecker alerted Joplin E911.

Joplin Fire, Joplin Police and Newton County EMS and METS ambulance responded.

Two vehicles collided just north of the 32nd and Schifferdecker intersection.

A black passenger car required extrication of the driver and passenger. It took about 15 minutes to peel back the top of the car before the two were transported non-emergency to an area hospital.

A third person from the second passenger car was also transported. All three suffered non-life threatening injuries according to Ofc Darrell Klink of Joplin Police Dept.

He tells us the black car was turning north onto Schifferdecker from westbound 32nd, took the corner too wide and the white passenger car was traveling south on Schifferdecker.

Metro Towing and Comer’s Wrecker removed the vehicles as the road remained closed for nearly an hour.
