Mercy Hospital in Joplin welcomes Leap Day baby
JOPLIN, Mo. – Leap Day is here and for at least one family in Joplin, it’s a day they won’t soon forget.
Baby Vivian Mwai was born at 3:17 a.m. on Feb. 29 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, officially making her a “leapling,” the common name for those born on Leap Day.
Both the mother and Vivian are reported to be happy and healthy.
“She has three older brothers who are all very happy to have a sister,” said Jordan Larimore, Senior Media Relations and Communications Specialist for Joplin Mercy.
The odds of being born on Leap Day are 1 in 1,461.
