Memorial honors fallen MODOT workers
JOPLIN, Mo. — A memorial service in Joplin honors road workers who died on the job.
Since 1932, 134 MODOT employees have died alongside Missouri roadways.
The memorial service was for them, including those from right here in the four-states.
“22 of those employees have been from the southwest district, so we would like to remind everybody that even though it is a job, we have to work close to the road way, or in the road way, and it can be dangerous. So, everybody needs to be safe and look our for each other,” said Dave Taylor with MODOT.
There is a physical memorial for those fallen workers near Jefferson City outside MODOT’s central office.
