McAuley advances to state quarterfinals with win over Montrose

JOPLIN, Mo. – The McAuley Catholic girls are headed to the state quarterfinals.

McAuley rolled by Montrose 70-45 Wednesday night in their Class 1 sectional matchup in Joplin. Kennedy Deruy scored a game-high 31 points for the Warriors, while Kayleigh Teeter added 22 points.

Lily Black (6), Kloee Williamson (5), Gliza Damaso (5) and Kaitlyn Bates (1) also scored Wednesday night for McAuley Catholic.

The Warriors now move on to the Class 1 state quarterfinals for the first time since 2002. They will travel to face Walnut Grove on Saturday at 1 PM, with the winner advancing to the final four in the Class 1 bracket.
