Matthew Ray Lee, 53, the son of Gary and Judith (Crumley) Lee, was born on November, 6, 1965, and passed away at his home in Monett, MO on September 11, 2019. He spent his formative years in Springfield, MO, where he graduated from Glendale High School in 1983. He was then united in marriage to Julie Marie Camenisch on May 31, 1994. He had the great joy of being the father of three adoring daughters: Alexandra, Madison and Grace. Matt later completed a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Columbia College at Columbia, MO. Matt then began working for Jack Henry and Associates, where he served as a programing analysis supervisor for 18 years.

Apart from his career, Matt was the contemporary worship leader at the First United Methodist Church in Monett, where his positive and encouraging attitude always made guests and the congregation feel uplifted and welcome. He also dearly loved times spent with his family, especially his wife and daughters. They made many happy memories together traveling out west to national parks and the beach. His family fondly remembers numerous “happy” hours they waited while he photographed elk and any other animals he spotted along the roadsides. Matt always enjoyed spending his holidays and leisure time in the outdoors, hiking and camping with friends and family. He was also a fly-fishing enthusiast. He had a passion for playing guitar and frequenting the Guitar Center in Springfield, MO. Matt was a great husband, a wonderful father, and dear friend; he will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his father-in-law Gary Camenisch.

Matt is survived by his mother, Judy Lee of Monett, MO; and his father, Gary Lee of LaVista, NE; his wife, Julie Lee of Monett, MO; three daughters: Alexandra and husband David Hill of Appleton City, MO; Madison Lee of Baylor University, Waco, TX, and Grace Lee of Monett, MO; one granddaughter, Maren Hill; a sister-in-law, Lori and husband Tyler Galloway of Lenexa, KS; and one niece, Murphy Galloway of Lenexa, KS, and one nephew, Geoff Crossland; along with many extended family, colleagues, and dear friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 13th, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Monett, MO. Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 14th, at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Monett Community Foundation in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home in Monett, MO.
