Mary Suzanne Carter-Griner

Mary Suzanne Carter Griner, age 65, of Webb City, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 13, 2020, surrounded by family. She was born November 2, 1955, in Joplin, to the late Irvin and Betty Lou Firey.
Mary lived in the area most of her life. She was a devoted wife to Fenith Carter until his passing in 1994. Together they had four children that she raised while going to school to become a nurse. Mary retired from nursing in recent years to spend as much time with her family that she could.
She is survived by her three sons and a daughter and their families. David Carter and his wife Kathleen, of Webb City, and their children, Austin, Kyler, Brantley, and Drake. Jeremy Carter and his wife Stephanie, of Oklahoma City and their children, Bryan and Destiney. Tamara Dockery and her husband, Gary of Luther, OK, and their children Gary and his wife Makayla, Haylee, and Chandler. Her son Nicholas and his children, Britton and his wife Alexa, Kyle, and Adam. Three great grandchildren, Hadley, Kash, and Ayyla. She has a brother Sam Firey of Joplin, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and other family members and friends that will greatly miss her. Mary was also preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Griner and her grandson Chase Dockery.
Mary spent her retirement years traveling with her family to some of her favorite destinations. She loved watching her grandchildren play sports and cheering them on from the stands. Mary was a loyal Oklahoma Sooner fan. The family would like to thank Dr. Brenda Brennan for her invaluable time and care for Mary in the last year.
The family will be at Simpson Funeral home from 4-6pm Monday, December 21, 2020. Viewing will be available from 10am-6pm. Mary wished to be cremated and buried with her beloved Fenith.
