Kody Schalk signs to play at Pittsburg State.
COLUMBUS, Kan. – (WATCH) Columbus High School seniors Gabe Martin and Kody Schalk sign Wednesday to continue their football careers in college.
Martin signs to play running back at Baker, while Schalk will play on the defensive line at Pittsburg State.
“It really just stood out to me because they brought me in and made it feel like it was a family,” Schalk says of Pitt State, “Everyone else brought me in like I was just another player. That’s what really brought me to it.”
“Baker felt like home when I first got there, and they win ball games. They’re the winningest program in NAIA. I really like to win, so that’s a big reason I wanted to go there,” Martin says of choosing Baker, “Coach Burns said it today, I feel like I was a little under-recruited. I have things to prove to people, and I’m looking forward to proving people wrong.”
