UPDATE: Second inmate, Jerry Nichols, captured after escaping Ottawa County Jail

UPDATE:  According to Ottawa County Sheriff Jeremy Floyd, escaped inmate Jerry Nichols has been captured.

Both Nichols and Justin Eby escaped Ottawa County Jail on October 1st.

Jerry Nichols was arrested on May, 12, 2020 for Endangerings Others While Attempting to Elude Police, Failure to Comply with Compulsory Insurance Law, and Driving Without a Valid Drivers License.

UPDATE: According to Ottawa County Sheriff Jeremy Floyd, 23-year-old Justin Eby, an escaped inmate from the Ottawa County jail,  has been captured.

Authorities are still on the search for Jerry Nichols.

MIAMI, Okla. – Police are search for two escaped inmates from the Ottawa County Jail. According to Ottawa County police, 23-year-old Justin Eby and 38-year-old Jerry Nichols escaped from the jail Thursday morning. Both are considered armed and dangerous. Authorities ask you call 911 if they are seen or have information on their whereabouts.

Eby was arrested in March of 2019 for shooting at an officer during routine traffic stop. No one was injured in the exchange of gunfire. A court ruled he was competent to stand trial

Jerry Nichols was arrested on May, 12, 2020 for Endangerings Others While Attempting to Elude Police, Failure to Comply with Compulsory Insurance Law, and Driving Without a Valid Drivers License.

Miami Public schools move all classes online today as police conduct the manhunt. We’ll have more details as they become available.
