Manhunt underway for armed robbery suspect in southeast Kansas

Several law enforcement agencies are involved in a manhunt for Aaron Hutton, 35, for allegedly robbing a business at gun point. He is considered armed and dangerous.

On August 21st, around 11:24 am, the Iola Police Department says a man robbed Cash Advance America at gun point. Authorities say the suspect, later identified as Hutton, was wearing a skull mask when he went into the store and pointed a gun at the cashier. The suspect made off with money from the business and the cashier’s cell phone and vehicle.

Several state and local law enforcement agencies began a manhunt for Hutton. Authorities say Hutton was found at his brother’s home in Humboldt, but he ran from there and was soon found entering the Neosho River on the west side of Humboldt.

Officers followed Hutton on each side of the river. The Kansas Highway Patrol helicopter was in the air providing eyes on Hutton from above. Authorities lost sight of Hutton after the helicopter left the area to refuel. They believe he got out of the river at that time.

Police say an extensive search of the immediate and surrounding areas was conducted, but Hutton remains at large.

During the search, authorities found a black and red bag that had clothing, two hats, a skull mask, money and a loaded 40 caliber semi-automatic handgun inside. It was found where Hutton had entered the river.
