A federal judge sentences Richard Cole, of Joplin, to 30 months of probation for possession of an unregistered destructive device.

In November 2018, Cole pleaded guilty to having a pipe bomb in his former apartment in Afton, Oklahoma. His former landlord found the device in the apartment after Cole was evicted.

Authorities later found two 1lb. canisters containing an explosive called ‘mixed tannerite’ and two boxes of ammo.

Federal authorities charged him in August 2018.
