NEWTON COUNTY, Mo. – A Judge sentences a Joplin man to 10 years in prison for burglarizing a home.

Judge Jacob Skouby sentenced Jericho Jones, 39, to the Missouri Department of Corrections for one count of B Felony Burglary in the second degree as a prior and persistent offender. The state dismissed a related misdemeanor stealing charge, according to the Newton County Prosecutor’s Office.

On February 23, 2020, Newton County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a burglary in progress at a south Joplin home. The homeowner called law enforcement after seeing two people pull in the driveway in a truck that had been previously involved in a burglary of the same home.

A deputy ran into Jones still in the home’s garage after the other suspect fled the scene.

Law enforcement searched Jones and found additional stolen property on him.
