Man falls off top of historic Rainbow Bridge in Cherokee County

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Kan. – Just after 12:15 p.m. Friday Cherokee County E-911 were alerted to reports of a man suffering traumatic injuries at the Rainbow Bridge over Brush Creek north of Baxter Springs on historic US-66 and SE Beasley Road.

Cherokee County EMS, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputies, Baxter Springs Fire Dept and other emergency services responded.

Sheriff David Groves tells us the incident occurred Friday shortly after 12:15 p.m. and involved a 24-year-old man.

Fell from the top of the bridge to the roadway. He was flown to an area hospital due to injuries sustained.”

Sources tell us the man is in critical condition.
