Man charged in Pittsburg fatal stabbing; $250,000 bond

Updated October 15 at 4:45 PM: The Crawford County prosecutor’s office says James Willard had first appearance in court this afternoon and a $250,000 cash/surety bond was set.

Willard has been charged with the second degree murder in the death of Arlin Lee Evans.

A status conference has been scheduled for Willard on November 4.

Pittsburg police say on early Saturday morning they found Evans with serious injuries on the 2000 block of John F Kennedy Street. Evans was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Evans is being held at the Crawford County jail.

Updated October 14 at 12:00 PM: A Four State man will remain behind bars another day awaiting official charges for murder. A 39-year-old man is dead after a stabbing in Pittsburg early Saturday morning.

Police say the incident happened on the 2000 block of John F Kennedy Street. That’s where they found Arlin Lee Evans, 39, with serious injuries. Evans was taken to Via Christi Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Pittsburg Police and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation have arrested a man in connection to the death investigation. That suspect is currently being held at the Crawford County Jail and is expected to be charged on Tuesday.

Posted October 12, 2013 at 5:57 PM: A man dies in a fatal stabbing in Pittsburg early Saturday morning. Police confirm that a stabbing took place on the 2000 block of John F. Kennedy street in Pittsburg around 4 AM Saturday morning.

According to Police, officers arrived on scene at approximately 4:37 AM for a report of a male subject at the residence who was injured and requesting help.
Upon arrival at the residence, law enforcement located a white male subject, who was later identified as 39 year old Arlin Lee Evans. Evans was transported to Via Christi Medical Center in Pittsburg for life threatening injuries, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
At Approximately 2:35 PM, the Pittsburg Police Department and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation arrested a man in connection to the death investigation. The man has been transported to the Crawford County Jail and book in for 2nd Degree Murder.
Police say the investigation is ongoing at this time.
