Lower 48 staying quiet overall Friday
With an exception out west
JOPLIN, Mo. — With our departing storm system losing steam on Friday at the surface and in the upper levels of the atmosphere, we’re expecting much of the Lower 48 to stay quiet in terms of t-storm chances. If you look out along the California Coast, you’ll find the lone exception out that way.
An upper level trough will move over northern and central California with some forcing to get some showers and t-storm chances going offshore. While portions of the California Coast have to put up with scattered showers and some t-storms as they move onshore, the middle and upper level setup isn’t very ideal and there will be very weak instability. While that may be enough for some t-storms, none of that activity is expected to be severe.
