JOPLIN, Mo. – Mound Valley fifth-graders visited the Ronald McDonald House in Joplin to volunteer and donate their collection of aluminum tabs.

Fifth-Grade Teacher  Kristen Shaw says she has brought her students to the RMH of the 4-states for over a decade now.

“In 2011, I spent time myself at the Ronald McDonald House when my twin daughters were born prematurely,” Shaw said. “I was grateful for a place to stay while my girls were in the NICU. Since that time, I have brought my class over to volunteer and deliver the pop tabs they collected throughout the year. The goal is to instill the importance of helping others and choosing kindness.”

Shaw says her twin daughters, now her fifth-grade students, made this year’s trip extra special.
