Masks In Joplin

JOPLIN, Mo. – The mandatory mask ordinance in Joplin went into effect Saturday, July 12th, and local small business owners that create masks are starting to see an increase in demand.

For Wendie Colvin, she started making and selling masks through her Etsy shop ‘Counting Treasures’ back in April.

Typically, she says she used to get about five orders a day, but it has now increased.

She now sees around 8-20 orders a day, with most customers buying four at a time.

She says with the mask ordinance in place she expects to see more people putting in orders.

“I thought how I’m going to handle the volume? but we’re making it work I think, I’m currently about five days out, four or five days out.”

Wendie and her husband create each mask by hand themselves.
