Local community remembers beloved coach

Fellow coaches, along with athletes, share memories of Carl Junction coach Aaron Fowler who last his battle with cancer in April

CARL JUNCTION, Mo. – Thursday night, a teachers aide and coach for Carl Junction School District was remembered.

Aaron Fowler passed away on April 10, after battling stage 4 head and neck cancer. The Carl Junction community came together at the high school football stadium to share memories of the beloved coach and friend.

For friends who could not attend the funeral service because of the pandemic, it was the opportunity to reflect on how special Coach Fowler was.

“Every Friday night, I feel like, everyone on the football team is going to be playing for Coach Fowler this year. Not seeing him on the sideline or in practice is really going to effect us, but I think we’ll be able to honor him every Friday night,” says quarterback Alex Baker.

“Players respected him. He respected them also. So he had a great relationship with kids. Just hard to replace good people. And Aaron Fowler was good people,” Bulldogs head football coach Doug Buckmaster adds.

Fowler coached junior high basketball and high school football for Carl Junction.
