Lindenwood rallies to top Gorillas

ST. CHARLES, Mo. — RELEASE FROM PITTSBURG STATE ATHLETICS:
The Lindenwood University women’s basketball team overcame a nine-point deficit with 7:31 to play in the game to rally for an 83-78 victory over Pittsburg State University Wednesday (Nov. 13) at Hyland Arena.
Katie Bildner posted game highs of 35 points and 14 rebounds to help the Lions (1-0) post the win in their season-opening action. Bildner made 13 of 16 shots from the floor and nine of nine free throws while playing all 40 minutes in the contest. Julia Ruzevich added 18 points while Hennessey Handy added 14 points for LWU.
Tristan Gegg scored a team-leading 24 points for the Gorillas. Maya Williams posted a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Athena Alvarado (15) and Kaylee DaMitz (13) also scored in double figures for Pitt State.
The Gorillas will return to action Saturday (Nov. 16) when Pitt State entertains Central Christian College at 7 p.m. (CST) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
