Cat lovers: a temporary cat lounge pops-up in Joplin

It will be in the Northpark Mall in July

JOPLIN, Mo. - The Joplin Humane Society is opening up a cat-themed lounge and adoption center. The pop-up store, called Tiny Tigers Lounge & Adoption Center, will be located in the Northpark Mall in Joplin, Missouri.

Shelter officials say it will be the 'purrfect place' to enjoy relaxing with adorable adoptable cats and kittens.

They are expecting lots of kitty lovers, so reservations can be made in front of the store starting July 5th at 11:30 am. Its open hours will be Friday & Saturday, noon – 7pm and Sunday, noon – 6pm throughout the month of July.

The Joplin Humane Society says it plans to accomplish their missing of finding 'furrever' homes for the felines by offering community cat lovers a place to meet them outside the shelter environment.

The cats and kittens will get something out of it too, besides hopefully a loving home. Officials say by having cats receive regular human interaction, their chances of being adopted will go up.

The cat lounge will have a variety of seating options, furry rugs, sofas and benches or pillowed nooks. Guests can also use free Wi-Fi and have a free cup of coffee or bottle of ice cold water.

And of course, you can't forget about the cats! They'll have cat trees, kitty shelves and other places for kitty shenanigans. The lounge can hold 25-30 cats at a time.

Guests can go in and play and interact with the cats for a half hour for $5.00. If you find one you love, you can adopt it on site and take the pet home that day.

The Joplin Humane Society hopes to find loving and permanent homes for the kittens and cats before their next influx

The pop-up cat lounge will be located in the old Gymboree store, close to the Dunham mall entrance.

You can find updates on the Joplin Humane Society Facebook page.
