WICHITA, Kan. - Burdened by grief and almost 100 pounds of gear, Kansas firefighters make a climb for those who can't.
Hundreds of firefighters from across Kansas took part in the Wichita 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb on Saturday. The annual event honors the 343 firefighters who died while saving lives after the September 11th attacks.
Five firefighters from Pittsburg took part:
Thomas Vacca – Fire Marshal
Bryan Main – Battalion Chief
Matt Stringer - Lieutenant
Clayton Bammer – Driver Operator
Chase Price – Firefighter
The Stair Climb took place at the Epic Center in Wichita, Kansas. Firefighters climbed the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center in full firefighter gear.
