Charlene Patton stops by the studio and teaches us how to make some "Easy Bread Bowls" with Chris! Want to make them yourself? Here's how:
Ingredients needed:
1 cup of warm water
1 package of 1/4 oz (2 and 1/4 tablespoons) of yeast
1 tablespoon of sugar
2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoons of salt
2 and 1/2 - 3 cups of all-purpose flour
Vegetable and Rosemary seasoning rub, optional
How to make it:
Place warm water in a large bowl and sprinkle with yeast and 1 tablespoon of sugar; stir to dissolve and let stand for 5 minutes; mixture will begin to bubble.
Add vegetable oil, salt, and 2 cups of flour; mix well.
Add enough remaining flour to make a soft dough; knead about 6 minutes and then place in greased bowl; turn dough over to grease top of dough.
Cover and let rise until dough is double in size; about 45 minutes.
Divide dough in six portions to make bread bowls.
Grease 10 ounce custard cups with shortening and turn upside down on baking sheet.
Roll each dough portion into 6-inch circle and fit over each custard cup.
Cover and let rise for 20 minutes
Bake at 350 degrees about 16 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool 5 minutes; remove bread bowl from custard cup.
To serve place bread bowl in shallow soup bowl and fill with soup. Makes 6 bread bowls.
