Latest updated blog – Staying cool for today

A little sun to enjoy today before rain returns

Good Sunday morning, everyone. Sure enough, we are starting out with cloudy skies on a cold morning across the area. There are a few areas that could be seeing a little bit of drizzle, but nowhere near as heavy as the rain we saw on Friday and on Saturday. The rain associated with that wave is well to the east of us now.

The whole area will start off under cloudy skies this morning, but we are anticipating some peaks of sun for the afternoon ahead. Even with that in the works, we’ll have our northeast (eventually easterly) wind pick up for the afternoon. Even though it will be nice to see some sun, it will only allow us to warm into the middle to upper 40s this afternoon.

As we said, Sunday will be a quiet day in between waves. As we see one wave scoot off to the east, our next upper low is out along the western coast.

Even though it’ll stay out in the western U.S. for today and going into early next week, it’ll start to send waves of rain chances our way late tonight and going into Monday.

That impulse could end as scattered t-storms for Tuesday morning before we dry out for Tuesday afternoon. Despite that round of rain chances on the way for late tonight and continuing through Tuesday  morning, we’ll continue to warm back up into the middle and upper 50s. For Wednesday and Thursday, the main upper low kicks out of the western U.S. and will head our way. That will bring in better chances for widespread rain and t-storms by the middle of the week.

These rain chances on the way are something we’ll definitely need to keep an eye on. We say that not just because we’ve already had quite a bit of rain and are looking for the chance to properly dry out. These rain chances could end up bringing in 1 to 3 inches by the time we start drying out by next weekend. With that bringing in the possibility of at least minor flooding into the area, it’s definitely something we’ll continue to monitor. Once we hit our first full weekend of spring, we do dry out but also start to cool down for Friday and Saturday.

Don’t forget that Doug’s long range forecast taking you into early May is down below.

Have a great Sunday!
