Latest updated blog: Cooling down and a look at our next system. -Doug

Saturday Night

Good Thanksgiving night!  I hope you had a great Thanksgiving and of course stayed as safe as possible with the spike of covid the past few weeks.  We got together with family but social distanced.  I love Thanksgiving dinner!  Hopefully you all got to get a nice big feast!  The weather was fantastic with highs around 63 this afternoon.  We do have a cold front that is passing through tonight.  With it, we will have some clouds and a few random sprinkles.  The clouds will slowly break during the day on Friday.  It will be cooler, but still looks good.

Cooler but still not bad.  Saturday looks pretty good as we pop into the mid 50s once again.  Clouds will increase late in the day and lead to showers by Saturday night.

Saturday Night

It will be cold showers as we will be in the mid to upper 30s.  Most of the showers should push east by Sunday morning.  As this system gets stronger and heads east, it will draw in colder air for Sunday and Monday.

Our next system is on Wednesday and Thursday.  As of right now this is a very disorganized system.

You can see the upper level low spinning as it pushes over us.  If we can get some moisture into this system, we will have rain and snow chances.  That is something to watch the next few days.  This new Heady Pattern is pretty cool to watch.  We are two months into this  pattern being completely set, even though it started setting up almost 4 months ago.  So, I have had a lot of time to watch what it has done.  Back in October, we had these stronger system working through with the Jet Stream dipping right over us.  This is usually an interesting sign for winter.  That usually means we will be able to tap into colder air during the winter months with better chances for winter weather.  If you remember back in before Halloween, we had the series of storm systems that produced the ice and snow in our western counties.  This will all come through again over the next 2-3 weeks.  However, this cycle has been different.  Same systems, right no schedule with the cycle length, but more cut-off from the Jet not allowing us to get as much moisture or cold air.  I do think it will get more interesting here in the over the next 2-3 weeks.  I also think in early January, the storm systems will look more like what we had in October, and not what we are seeing now.  I could talk all night about this.  Okay, winter forecast next week.  Long range forecast is below.

Next Friday-Saturday:  Cool but a slow warming trend into the weekend.

December 6th-12th:  A mild start with rain chances on Sunday and Monday.  This system could end with some wintry weather on Tuesday with colder air working in.  Staying cool most of the week.  Our next system rolls in on Friday and Saturday with rain, ice and snow chances.

December 13th-19th:  A cool start with rain or snow chances on Sunday.  The rest of the week mainly cool and dry.

December 20th-26th:  Mainly a mild week into Christmas.  However, rain chances increasing through the week and colder air working in late in the week, so let’s see!
