Latest Blog: Tracking rain for the holiday weekend. -Doug

I hope your week has started off great and you are ready to head into the holiday season.  We have had a nice stretch of weather the past few days.  However, we do have storm system rolling in the next few days.  It will take its time getting through here as it is a cut-off low.  Cut-off low is a system that is cut off from the main flow of the Jet Stream.  Due to this, it takes a while to get through.  Most of Wednesday will be dry, but mostly cloudy skies.

Wednesday Evening

Light showers get going Wednesday evening and Wednesday night.  Majority of this will be along and south of I-44.

Thanksgiving Morning

Scattered showers through the day on Thursday.  The better chances will be in the morning hours.  Even though these will be scattered, I think on average we get about 1/4″ of rain.  Most of the rain stays in our southern counties on Friday and most of it just south of the region.

Thanksgiving Evening

Here is a look at rain chances the next couple of day.

Rain Chances

Now, as the main upper level low heads toward us Friday night and Saturday, that is when most of us will get our heaviest rains.

This system will finally rotate out of here on Saturday.  Here is rain totals for the entire system from Wednesday night-Saturday night.

Rain Totals

Rain totals look to be much heavier along and south of I-44.  Long range forecast is below.

7 Day Forecast

Next Tuesday-Saturday: Rain chances on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Cooling down the rest of the week with rain chances back in on Friday and Saturday.

December 18th-24th: A mild start to the week but turning colder by Tuesday.  Rain and snow chances on Sunday and Monday. Then slight chances for rain or snow on Wednesday and Thursday.  Warming up a bit for Christmas but another decent system coming in right after Christmas.
