Lamar remembers a local hero
LAMAR, Mo. — Friends, family, and the community of Lamar come together Saturday to celebrate the life of a loved fire chief, badge number 49, Larry Beatty.
The 67-year-old Beatty passed away after a long battle with cancer.
He began his career in law enforcement, working for the police department and Barton County Sheriff’s Office before joining the Lamar Fire Department.
Beatty also served as an EMT, leaving a lasting legacy with the community and the fire department.
“He was involved in several organizations throughout his career, even at the state level, and helping advance the emergency medical services, fire departments, things like that,” said Rick Heinen, Lamar’s assistant fire chief.
Beatty’s family asked that in lieu of sending flowers, donations be made to the Lamar Fire Department.
